Audiology is the study of hearing and listening. The word audiology is made up of two routes audio and logy. Audio refers to hearing, while Logy means the study of. So audiology has a lot of things that we can do. But the first thing we need to know is who is an audiologist. An audiologist is a person who is able to combine technology and medical science to come up with solutions for the testing of hearing, listening and balance disorders in people. People who practice audiology are called audiologists. Audiologists are responsible for testing, managing and rehabilitation of disorders, with hearing, listening and balance. An audiologist is someone with a bad bachelor’s degree in audiology who is able to test patients ranging from newborns to elderly people. The wide age spectrum includes multiple possibilities and multiple problems that they need to resolve. We work with a multidisciplinary team, which generally includes an otolaryngologist, neurologist and general physicians, and maybe other medical people from other medical fields. The diagnostic tests are into two main subcategories one is objective and subjective. objective tests include tests like auto acoustic emission or immittance measures. The B E R A, that is brainstem evoked response audiometry and subjective tests also include pure tone audiometry visual reinforcement audiometry and play audiometry for children. Further assessment of listening skills and speech understanding can also be done using subjective tests. Treatment options in audiology involve hearing aids and auditory rehabilitation consultation into what kind of techniques would be required to train the person listening skills to have a better quality of life? Needless to say, audiological evaluation and rehabilitation are the basis of which defines the work of an audiology an audiologist.
